  the june 2017 watchtower tells the experience of a bible student who was homeless and unkempt, but improved his appearance after being preached to.. peter began to change.

  he bathed, neatlytrimmed his beard, and put on the betterclothes that don offered him.

  peter continued to maintain a clean appearance.. so here we see that with a neatly trimmed beard the watchtower's writers view him as having "a clean appearance".

  Hard to believe, but the blackguard in the previous post was asked to comment at meetings, looking just as you see him. And comment he did. Well, of course, he was nattily attired in requisite suit and cravat.

  my girlfriend and i were walking along a seaside boulevard and lo and behold!

  2 jws were standing by the pathway.

  they made eye contact and said hello.

  Maybe it was youth and enthusiasm on our side back in the '60s. We tore up the streets in town and the roads in the rurals with our full days in service. And we were thin and healthy.

  I can't see the benefits -- physical or spiritual -- to sitting all day and not honing your craft. Sure, the beliefs have always been crazy, but, back then, there was some measure of dignity and seriousness to the message. We were kids, but THE TRUTH was our everything.

  What a difference five decades makes.

  i went to meeting today and the sister in front of me was upset song 134 now song 139 no longer contains jehovahs name.

  they took it out.

  i never even noticed .

  Regarding the rhythmic flow of words in a sequence, my opinion is that the revised version (#1) is a marked improvement. However important the retention of "Jehovah" might be to dear true believers, the lyrics here -- and elsewhere in Kingdom Melodies -- are clunky and cause my ears to bleed.

  It's claimed that scriptural correctness, as continually touted by JWs, is of utmost importance. Couldn't they clandestinely hire an apostate poet and an apostate composer, paying them adequately, to come up with truly beautiful lyrics and tunes?

  Behind "little CoCo," and beyond the shrubbery, was Nana and Gramps WWII Victory Garden. Nana and Ma Mere (paternal g'ma) taught me to garden, a debt I could never repay.

  In our community, many young and older men have beards and long hair. While a lot of the beards are rangy, I agree with steve2 insofar as the older guys looking dignified. I keep my beard slightly past the "designer stubble" stage. Hair is almost halfway down the back.

  I understand about passion for the arts, the piano in particular. My stage career was submarined, although it's ironic that the majority of performance time was "playing for Jehovah," at assemblies and at KHs. As it stands, I prefer teaching. Whilst a JW, it provided me an income and allowed me to "put the Kingdom first."

  Life was so different then . . .

  Yes -- so cool about the little kids in the video. Children are, by nature, musical. Wish both of you could see my current little ones during class!

  You're welcome, Tallon!

  As a music teacher for 50-plus years, I see those little kids in the video who are keeping time to the music and reminisce about my own "kids," now grown up, appreciating and loving music.

  Some of them are teachers . . .
